Piracicaba, 13 – Considering the good results of 2019 and the investments of the industry, the forecast is that Brazilian potato planting area will grow 3.6% in 2020. In the dry season, the increase will be small, due to production problems and low availability of seeds. Thus, supply may not rise.
As for winter season, if prices remain satisfactory, the increase in area may be larger, what may pressure prices down. Investments will not be greater because profits in 2019 were used to pay off debts from previous years.
