Piracicaba, 29th - The prices of cavendish bananas continued to fall in Northern Santa Catarina, Brazil’s producing region, last week (October 18th to 22nd). According to agents consulted by Hortifruti/Cepea, despite the variety's supply being controlled in the region, the price drop is due to low demand, characteristic of the second half of the month, which limits the buyer’s purchase volume.
Thus, the first quality cavendish was sold at an average of BRL 0.97 per kilo, 3% lower than the previous week. For this week, producers in the north of Santa Catarina expect the cavendish banana supply to have a slight drop in the region, favoring a possible maintenance of prices, even at the end of the month.
