Piracicaba, 22nd - Brazilian banana exports decreased in volume this year, but increased in revenue, demonstrating that there was an increase in the average price. According to Secex, the volume was 70,000 tons in the partial year (January to October), a drop of 13% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Yet, revenue added US$ 30 million (FOB), an increase of 10%. According to Hortifruti/Cepea collaborators, the fall in volume is due to lower national production and logistical problems. However, revenue rose due to lower competition from Paraguay, Bolivia, Colombia and Ecuador in the first half of the year.
