Piracicaba, 4th - Banana exports to Mercosur shall recover in second semester of 2017. Freight numbers have already increased in June, because of a decrease in prices in domestic market. Moreover, internal prices may continue low, and so favoring foreign sales until December. In this scenario, producers forecast that exports of bananas in 2017 might be similar to last year – only to Mercosur.
The volume sent to this market decreased in the first half of the year due to low supply and high prices in Santa Catarina state, main exporter of bananas to Mercosur.
