Piracicaba, 18 - Carrot prices in São Gotardo (Minas Gerais state) went down 9.1% last week (14th to 18th August), an average of BRL 10.00, 7% below production cost estimates. The reason for devaluation was an increase in supply in Cristalina (GO) due to high productivity. In addition, another factor for bulky supply is winter season concentration in Cerrado region, which will harvest 25% of total planted area this month. For the next weeks, carrot supply shall remain high.
