Piracicaba, 14 – Carrot prices rose significantly in São Gotardo (Minas Gerais state) last week (August 06th to 10th), considering the lower volume of the vegetable. A box of 29 kilograms of carrots was sold by BRL 19.00, 58.3% higher than the previous week. However, winter crop harvest will intensify in the second fortnight of this month in São Gotardo, which will increase supply and push quotes down. According to Hortifruti/Cepea collaborators, last week rain was not harmful to carrot crops.
