In September, melon producers in Rio Grande do Norte and Ceará states shall intensify exports for the season 2016/17, initiated in August. According to them, the expectation is that exports will decrease this season due to drought in producing states. In the first month of shipment, producers sent 8.4 thousand of tones, 15.7% less from August of 2015 (Secretariat of foreign trade of Brazil). Concerning revenues, the decrease was 19.4%, adding up to US$ 6.18 millions. One of the most important destinies of Brazilian melons is European Union (EU).
