Piracicaba, 2nd – In this South season (2020/21), dry weather impedes the production in Santa Catarina, Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul states. Besides, some areas were damaged by hail storms during the plant development and by rain in the harvest. Considering all this the volume will be reduced until the end of commercialization – between April and May – and the prices tend to continue rising.
For the Northeast region and Goiás, Minas Gerais and São Paulo state, the forecast for the 2021 season is a higher planted area in relation to 2020. The good results during last year and high prices in the beginning of 2021 tend to incentivize producers to invest. In the Northeast region, considering the smaller plantation during the end of 2020, the first trimester will have a reduced supply.
