Piracicaba, 11th – Large investments in papaya are not expected for this year in Brazil, mainly in terms of planted area. This is because the limited profitability of last year should continue to worry producers, alongside the economic and market uncertainties generated by the covid-19 pandemic.
In this scenario, the papaya volume produced in 2021 may even be more controlled which could sustain the quotes. However, there are still concerns about sales, especially to hotels and schools, which may again be partially or completely closed due to the pandemic.
