Piracicaba, 04th – Good financial results from 2020 may allow a recovery in planted area for watermelon in 2021, mainly in Goiás and Tocantins state. In São Paulo state, problems with drought in the main season 2020/21 shall limit planting in mid-harvest and in 2021/22 seasons.
In Rio Grande do Norte and Ceará states, exporter region, good demand in Europe may ensure good shipments and positive profitability. For Bahia and Rio Grande do Sul states, the forecast is of a smaller supply in the beginning of the year because of smaller planting for this period.
