Piracicaba, 16th - Table grape imports added 5.1 thousands of tones in the first two months of 2017, 7.8% more than the same period of last year, according to Secex. Purchases summed US$ 8.7 million in revenue, value 14% larger than Jan-Feb/16. Low supply of Brazilian seedless grapes is the cause to this growth. Besides that, prices of imported grapes are lower than Brazilian ones in wholesalers, mainly Peruvian grapes. In February, seedless Arra 15 from Peru was sold by R$ 12.50/kg, while the price of Brazilian ones was between R$ 14.00/kg and R$ 16.00/kg in wholesalers of São Paulo and Campinas (SP). The most imported varieties from Peru are Arra 15 and red globe.
