Piracicaba, 23th – The lack of rain between September and November in São Paulo producing regions have hampered lettuce production in the last months. According to Inmet, rain volume is below the normal average. During the drought, there was limited water available to irrigation, affecting plantation and harvesting. Fortunately, rain last week (November 16th to 20th) contributed to filling the water reservoirs, which will be good for the summer season planting. However, the excessive humidity favored the incidence of diseases and damaged the lettuce harvested. The reduction in supply raised garden lettuce prices by 9%, closing at BRL 11.08 per box of 20 units.
