Piracicaba, 22 - Prices of lettuce fell down last week (March 12th to 16th) due to high supply since mid-February in Mogi das Cruzes (São Paulo state). Favorable climate (regular rain) promoted good production of lettuce in the region. So, the volume went up and prices of green leaf decreased 6.34% last week, closing at 9.60 BRL per box of 20 units. This scenario discouraged lettuce producers of handling plantations adequately, trying to reduce costs. So far, supply is expected to remain high until the end of this month.
