Piracicaba, 23rd – Brazilian mango exports are in a good rhythm during the second semester of 2020 after a smaller volume shipped in the first six months. According to Secex data, shipments in the first semester were 21% below when compared to the same period of 2019. On the other hand, July and August had a performance 53% higher than the same months of 2019.
These good numbers are related to a strong demand, even during the pandemic. Besides that, other producing countries (such as Ivory Coast and Senegal) had a shorter season. In this scenario, Brazil, which harvests all year long, was capable of attending international market requests.
For the next months, the forecast is to keep good exports, since demand is solid in Europe and the United States. Besides that, Brazilian mango production may increase, reaching its peak in September and October, and the quality is predicted to be good.
