Piracicaba, 07 – Export mangoes is being a good option for growers from São Francisco Valley (Pernambuco and Bahia states) and North of Minas Gerais state, the main exporter regions in Brazil. From January to November of 2017, volume was record, totalizing 163.9 thousand tones, 16.1% more than in the same period of 2016, according to Secex data. The main buyers of Brazilian mangoes are the European Union (palmer, keitt and kent varieties) and the United States (tommy variety), and both are high demand markets. Particularly this year, Brazil has sent its first shipments of mango to South Korea, what can increase Brazilian participation in non-traditional markets in the coming years.
