Piracicaba, 8th - USDA (U.S. Department of Agriculture) inspectors arrived in Brazil in the last week of July, and the first shipments of mangoes occurred in the same week, but in small quantities. Brazil usually send them to the U.S. in the second semester (between August and November), but this year that might be postponed to mid-December.
Deals with importers started early this year, and most of the contracts are already signed. For the full season, the forecast is to hit the record volume of mangoes shipped to the USA, according to the National Mango Board, totaling 13.5 million boxes of 4 kg. In addition, two more new companies are now certified to export mangoes to the USA. In this scenario of great exports, prices for the Tommy variety are increasing in the internal market in August.
