Piracicaba, 27th – Tommy mango prices reduced in the end of August (August 22nd to 26th) in the main producer regions from Brazil. In Vale do São Francisco (Pernambuco and Bahia states), this variety ended the week at BRL 1.11/kg, a decrease of 31.5% in comparison to the previous week and the first time in 2022 that prices closed below production costs.
According to Hortifruti/Cepea collaborators, this devaluation occurred due to an increase in supply, since the harvest is intensifying and exports are below the expectations. Prices may continue to reduce in the coming weeks, as volume will continue to rise in northeastern Brazil.
