Piracicaba, 30 - Gradually, mango producers in the region of Valparaíso/Mirandópolis (São Paulo state) begin harvesting palmer and haden orchards. According to Hortifruti/Cepea collaborators, considering the difficulties faced in recent years, producers are demotivated and investments are low.
Farmers are concerned about quality - excessive rainfall and high temperatures, may favor the appearance of bacterial and fungal diseases. Still according to producers, a part of production tends to be redirected to the industry, considering the low quality for the table market. Last week (November 19th to 23rd) the average palmer price in the region was BRL 1,00/kg, tending to drop in the coming weeks.
