Piracicaba, 08 - In April, Spain’s melon season shall initiate. Thus, Brazilian melon exports will be finished in March, as long as high competitiveness discourages Brazilian growers due to importation rates from European Union. In this way, harvest in Rio Grande do Norte and Ceará states is in slower pace.
From August of 2017 to February of 2018, melon exports summed 213 thousand of tones, volume 1% lower than the same period of 2016/17 season, according to Secex data. In revenue, shipments were 10% higher in same comparison period. In counter-season, northeast Brazilian producers shall conserve water dams for 2018/19 season.
