Piracicaba, 07 - The season of Rio Grande do Norte/Ceará melon exports, that began in August/16, finished in March/17. The volume of Brazilian melons sent to international market added 227.3 thousands of tones, an increase of 6% in comparison to season 2015/16, according to Secex. The revenue summed US$ 148.4 million, 1% more in the same comparison. These values guarantee the second place in export fruits ranking of Brazil – the first is mango. Preparations for season 2017/18 may start in April with contract negotiations.
