Piracicaba, 28th – Brazilian melon exports continued their upward trajectory in October. According to the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex), the volume reached 37 thousand tons in the period, an increase of 74% compared to the previous month and 6% increase compared to October 2022. Revenue totaled US$ 32 million (FOB ), reflecting a 68% and 21% increase, respectively, in the same comparison.
Exporters consulted by Hortifruti/Cepea attribute this growth to two primary factors, which have favored the current harvest: the increase in productivity – linked to favorable weather conditions – and the reduction in production costs. Additionally, the reduction in logistics costs, especially sea freight, has also impacted this scenario.
PARTIAL OF THE 2023/24 HARVEST - Between August and October/23, the volume exported reached 65 thousand tons, an increase of 12% compared to the same period last year. Revenue amounted US$55 million (FOB), marking a 26% increase in the same comparison.
