Piracicaba, April 29th - Exports of the 2021/22 harvest from Rio Grande do Norte/Ceará ended in March 2022. And, overall, submissions performed well. According to Secex, the volume exported between August 2021 and March 2022 was 245,900 tons, an increase of 7% compared to the same period of the previous campaign.
According to agents consulted by Hortifruti/Cepea, this is due to good European demand and an attractive exchange rate. Moreover, with the internal market weak, the less the producers left the fruit here, the better. However, the numbers could have been higher had it not been for the problems with sea freight, high production and packaging costs.
