Piracicaba, 01st - Domestic market for melon may warm up in September. One of the reasons is the beginning of melon exports from Rio Grande do Norte/Ceará region – despite of harvest intensification in September, around 70% of production in the region is exported, limiting domestic supply. In August, however, melon prices went down, once Brazilian buyers could not absorb all production. Thus, yellow variety (6 and 7 sizes) was sold on average by BRL 22.27/box of 13 kg in Ceagesp (wholesaler in São Paulo state), price 4.5% smaller than the previous month.
