Piracicaba, 09 - Melon supply in Rio Grande do Norte and Ceará states is decreasing in February. In January, the latest seedling of piel de sapo, cantaloupe, galia and orange varieties were planted. Thus, exports of melons will finish in March. Yellow melon, on the other hand, might be cultivated in counter-season to supply domestic market. However, these crop activities may be stopped if lack of water continues in melon areas – and the forecast of climate agencies is low volume of rain in this region between February and April.
