Piracicaba, 14th - Last week (October 5th to 9th), onion quotes closed at BRL 25.39 and BRL 24.58 per 20-kilo bag, a reduction of 14.7% and 14.3% in Minas Gerais and Goiás states, respectively. The decline was a reflection of low liquidity: an intensification of harvesting in the Northeast region raised national supply and hampered the flow of production.
Besides that, high temperatures in Minas Gerais and Goias states damaged the quality of bulbs, which raised the range of prices: oscillating between BRL 22 to BRL 30 per 20-kilo bag. The heat also contributed to an anticipation of harvest, approaching the end of the 2020 season.
