Piracicaba, 21 - Due to the higher national supply, onion quotes have been reduced in Irecê (Bahia state) and Vale do São Francisco (Bahia and Pernambuco states) in the first part of June. Prices reduced 12.6% and 15.9%, respectively, in relation to the average in May.
The main factor which contributed to this was the competition between Minas Gerais and Goias states. Once the Cerrado regions increase the supply, the Northeast region is reducing sales and tends to continue with slow pace until September. For the next month, the forecast is that onion supply will continue high in Brazil.
