Piracicaba, 21th – Brazilian apple production in 2018/19 season was only 1.02 million tons, 8% lower than the previous one, according to market agents consulted by Hortifruti/Cepea. This was due to gala crop break, even though was a slight increase in fuji production (bienniality).
In contrast, quality improved: offer of large calibers and high categories (which are more valued and profitable to classifiers) was higher, and this scenario even boosted prices of small standards, which were low in volume. It is noteworthy that good quality resulted a reduction of delivery to industries.
