Piracicaba, 9th – Brazilian South season 2018/19 was good to onion producers, considering high prices during commercialization (November 2018 – May 2019). Rainy weather conditions reduced supply, providing good profitability.
2019 crops in Northeast, Central West and Southeast regions also had very good return to producers. The reasons were a smaller planted area – mainly at São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Goiás states – and a reduction in productivity in the beginning of harvest. This scenario had lowered supply and maintained high prices.
