Piracicaba, 13 – Last week (June 05 to 09th), availability of papaya havaí was still small in main producer regions in Brazil, resulting in an increase of prices in North of Espírito Santo state and in South of Bahia state. According to producers, the amount of fruit in ideal maturation is small. Besides that, with the fall season in Brazil, low temperatures tend to increase the time of fruit development, limiting supply for next weeks. In Espírito Santo state, havaí variety was sold by BRL 1.25/kg, an increase of 131% in one week.
