Piracicaba, 1st – Papaya havaí production is affected by a reduction in investment in 2018, as low profitability in 2017 discouraged investments. According to Hortifruti/Cepea collaborators, discouragement reflects in area as in cultivation.

In North of Espírito Santo state and in South of Bahia state, for example, fungal diseases were reported, besides less rain in January. Growers cut down on crop handling, mainly pulverization. So, diseases impacted quality and pressed prices down: last week (January 22nd to 26th), papaya havaí was sold by BRL 0.94/kg in Espírito Santo state, a decrease of 10% in one week.
