Piracicaba, 19th – Papaya availability was controlled in producer regions last week (11th to 15th of June), favoring prices. In North of Espírito Santo state, formosa variety was sold by BRL 0.76/kg, 61% above the week before. In South of Bahia state, price of havaí variety didn’t change in same comparison, closing at BRL 1.54/kg.
According to Hortifruti/Cepea collaborators, this scenario is a result of mild weather, which is slowing down fruit maturation. Prices of formosa could have increased more, though were limited by few sales last week.
