Piracicaba, 18 – Last week (December 10th to 14th), papaya availability was limited in South of Bahia state and North of Espírito Santo state. As a result, prices increased in these producer regions, especially for havaí variety, which was in lower supply compared to formosa.
However, large rain volume affected papaya quality and avoided higher prices. Besides the rain and school holidays, Hortifruti/Cepea collaborators expect that havaí prices will remain at good levels this year-end, due to short supply. For formosa, on the other hand, a possible increase in supply may limit prices.
