Piracicaba, 6th – Producing regions of Itapeva (São Paulo state), Venda Nova do Imigrante (Espírito Santo state) and Nova Friburgo (Rio de Janeiro state) started summer harvest season 2018/19 between November and December. In Reserva (Paraná state), growers are preparing plantations to harvest in the beginning of 2019.
Until now, field activities and plant development are happening without problems in Itapeva and Venda Nova, so, we expect good production. On the other hand, productivity in Reserva is low due to large temperature variation – that affects ripening of fruit. Besides that, rain usually increases the incidence of bacteria and fungus.
According to Hortifruti collaborators, tomatoes in Itapeva and Venda Nova have satisfactory quality and attends the consumer demand, because fruits are large and “clean”.
