Piracicaba, 09 - In June, tomato supply may increase due to intensification of harvest on the first half of winter season in Sumaré and Mogi Guaçu (São Paulo state), Venda Nova do Imigrante (Espírito Santo state), Paty do Alferes (Rio de Janeiro state), South of Minas Gerais and North of Paraná. According to Hortifruti/Cepea data, the forecast is that 24% of total production will be harvested this month. Besides that, weather is favorable to tomato development until now in most producing regions. However, some atypical rain last week (May 29th to June 2nd) increased the incidence of bacteria and may affect tomato quality in São Paulo and Minas Gerais states.
