Piracicaba 25th – Brazilian watermelon exports continue to intensify every month. According to data from Comex Stat, the official system for extracting statistics on Brazilian foreign trade, between August and September, the country exported just over 24 thousand tons of fruit, the second-highest volume exported by Brazil for the period since 1997. Compared to August/September last year, this year’s shipments were 39% higher.
Regarding revenue, fruit exports between August and September totaled just over US$ 12 million, the highest revenue for the period. According to Hortifruti/Cepea, the increase in cultivated areas and good productivity, together with the strong demand from European countries, have contributed to the good results recorded so far.
For the coming months, the expectation is that exports will continue to intensify, given the end of the Spanish season.
